Hola! I’m Chif.
This blog is about changing my life again. But this time as a single late 50-something woman who survived advanced cancer, a terrible divorce, and now is moving out of the USA to do something I´ve never done before: Teach English to young elementary children in Spain. From an experienced Geriatric nurse (who never had kids or barely ever babysat any) to teaching English to kids? And with no Spanish under my belt, feeling too old to learn and wondering why I’d leave the comfort of a good job and health insurance, I sit here wondering: Who’s f***ing idea was this anyway? Mine, all mine, and here is my story, one painful step at a time.

Disclaimer: sometimes I swear and sometimes my spelling sucks, so don’t expect perfection, it is what it is…..

Update: Ive gone from ex-pat to re-pat in the past 6 months. I turned 60 and the program I was under; NALCAP (North American Language and Culture Exchange Program) when you turn 60 you’re out. Done, You are too old. Get out. We are done with you. Damn Ageists. So I finished the school year, became a tourist, and hopped to Italy, France, Germany, Turkey, and other places throughout Spain trying to squeeze every drop of travel I could get while I lived there. So I had to make another life-changing decision. Retire right now which I couldn’t afford as my pension won’t kick in for 3 more years, or move back to the USA. My job was still waiting for me with a decent raise and so I’m back. And again I’ll say who’s f**ing ideas was this? Somebody kick me…. coming home has sucked. So here we go as I re-acclimate and drink to get through it…
